A romantic weekend by the sea in Le Touquet

A whole flat, just for the two of you

A hotel room is a bed and a bathroom. For a weekend for two, our apartments Hélios and Cassiopée offer rather more: 55 m², newly renovated, in a 1920s Art Deco villa, with a main bedroom (160 cm bed, new bedding), a sitting room with a large wooden table, a fully equipped kitchen and a terrace leading off the living room. The second bedroom stays free, handy for the suitcases or for whichever of you likes to read late.

• Breakfast whenever you like: Nespresso, toaster, citrus press, and the shops of rue Saint-Jean 200 m away.
• Dinner on the terrace, barbecue included, on the evenings you would rather not book a table.
• In Cassiopée, on the second floor, the main bedroom opens onto a south-west-facing balcony.

• Bed linen and towels supplied, so you can travel light.

Ideas for a romantic weekend

Sunset on the beach

Le Touquet's long beach faces west: on a clear evening the sun sets over the Channel. From the villa it is a few minutes' walk to the promenade and onto the sand. At low tide the beach is vast, and you can walk a long way north towards the dunes along the Canche estuary.

A walk in the forest

Le Touquet is a resort built in a pine forest: villas hide among the trees and the woodland paths begin a few streets back from the sea. A walk or a bike ride through the forest, past Anglo-Norman and Art Deco villas, makes a lovely Sunday morning. Our favourite routes are in where to walk in Le Touquet.

A good dinner

Most restaurants are clustered around rue Saint-Jean, rue de Metz and rue de Paris, a few minutes' walk away: bistros, seafood houses and even a Michelin-starred table. Book ahead for Saturday night, especially in the school holidays. Our pick is in where to eat in Le Touquet.

Time at the spa

There is no spa or hot tub at the villa, but the resort has two wellness addresses: the spa at the Hôtel Barrière Le Westminster (indoor pool, sauna, hammam, treatments) and the thalassotherapy centre at the Novotel Thalassa, right by the beach. Treatments are booked in advance with them directly, and access for non-residents comes with conditions (at the Westminster, weekdays outside French school and public holidays, according to the hotel), so do check before you travel.

What does a weekend for two cost?

The price is for the whole apartment: from €140 a night, two nights minimum, plus a €50 cleaning and linen fee. For a Friday-to-Sunday break, allow from €330 for the two of you, meals not included. Rates vary with the season and are shown with live availability on our booking page.

Check-in is from 3 pm and check-out by 11 am. Book direct and you pay less than on Airbnb, and, subject to availability, we offer an early check-in or late check-out: time for one last walk on the beach before the drive home. A quiet house

The villa holds two apartments, one above the other, and sound carries: quiet hours run from 10 pm to 9 am and parties are not allowed. That is exactly what makes it a restful place for a weekend for two.

Charles's tip: before you set off, check the sunset time and the tide table. The best moment is a sunset at low tide, when the wet sand mirrors the sky for hundreds of metres.
