Le Touquet, right in the middle of the Opal Coast
The Opal Coast (Côte d'Opale) runs for well over a hundred kilometres along the Channel. In the north you have the chalk and sandstone cliffs of Cap Blanc-Nez and Cap Gris-Nez; in the south, wide estuaries where seals haul out on the sandbanks. Le Touquet sits roughly halfway, where the river Canche meets the sea, so no day out means a long drive:

Sea, forest and town centre, without the car
What sets Le Touquet apart from other resorts on this coast is its layout: a seaside town built inside a pine forest, where the beach, the woods and the shopping streets are all within walking distance. From Villa Mon Étoile on rue d'Étaples, the beach is about 300 m away and rue Saint-Jean, the main street for shops and restaurants, about 200 m. Once you have arrived, the car can stay put: beach in the morning, market on foot, and a bike ride home through the forest.
Two flats in an Art Deco villa
Villa Mon Étoile is a 1920s house listed among the resort's notable villas. It contains two separate 55 m² flats, each with two bedrooms (one 160 cm double and two 90 cm singles) sleeping 4 plus a baby:
- Hélios, in warm tones, and Cassiopée, lighter and calmer, each with a terrace and barbecue.
- A fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, oven, Nespresso machine) and a washing machine, so it feels like home.
- 8 Gb/s fibre wifi and a TV for quiet evenings or a day of remote work.
- Bed linen and towels provided, with a €50 cleaning and linen fee per stay on top of the nightly rate.

The Opal Coast in every season
Summer means swimming, beach huts and long light evenings. Spring and early autumn bring beautiful light, near-empty beaches and peaceful forest walks. In winter the coast turns wilder, with big tides and dramatic skies, while the town centre stays lively all year round. With a 2-night minimum, even a short break is enough to enjoy it.
Charles's tip: don't try to see everything in one stay. Give one day to the northern capes and one to the southern bays, and keep the rest for Le Touquet's own beach, five minutes from the front door.
